PROSTHETIC SYSTEM OF UPPER BODY LIMB INAIL-IIT: WHERE WE WERE AND WHERE WE ARE GOING

Amputations of the upper body limbs represent a significant proportion of the total and they concern especially injured workers. Hence the desire by INAIL, to launch a number of research projects, targeted to fully respond to the different needs and expectations of the injured.

In 2014, with a time horizon of three years, the project activities started that see  INAIL, in the Prosthetics Center in Vigorso of Budrio, at the center of a network of collaborations with high-level scientific and technological partners, and among them the Italian Institute of Technology in Genova.

This partnership, in terms of prosthetics, has the goal of developing a complete prosthetic system for trans-radial amputations, and in particular a new hand concept that combines functionality and simplicity in an innovative design that allows for greater affordability.

A year after the end of the project, downstream of the first clinical trials, this is where we are and where we are going.
