BIOGRAPHY

Maddalena Mometti is a freelance designer, expert in Chic Things and Smart Things. She works as a designer and researcher at the University Iuav of Venice. Since 2016 she is part of the spin-off Strategy Innovation of the University Ca ‘Foscari of Venice. It is a multidisciplinary reality founded with the objective to work next to companies to trigger strategic innovation processes.

She has a PhD in Design Sciences, achieved in 2014 at the Iuav University with a thesis entitled Smart Things for Smart Grids. During her doctoral path she developed an interest in ICT and, specially, in wearable technologies. At the end of 2015 she began a personal research with the aim of exploring the points of union between fashion, design and new technologies focusing her work on the high tech fashion and sport design areas. She writes about these topics on Digicult.it magazine and she has just opened a personal blog called Chic Words (http://www.maddalenadesign.it/chicwords).

HIGH-TECH FASHION: WHEN TECHNOLOGY BECOMES GLAMOUR

The dress, the interface between the human body and the outside world, in the hands of the new generation OF fashion designers, is taking always more fascinating and sophisticated properties and roles. Smart fabrics, sensors, Internet of Things, photochromic inks and idrocromatici, 3D printing are just some of the innovations that are contaminating the world of fashion, making possible creations that previously, could only exist in fairy tales or in science fiction films. Maddalena Mometti will feature a talk during WTT 2016, and through the analysis of some of the most glamour dresses inspired by the new frontiers of science and technology, will offer her point of view on the future of wearable technologies with particular reference to the high-tech fashion sector.
