ST KIT AND IDE DETAILS

The ST proposed development kit for the Hackathon Make It Wearable is the STEVAL-STLKT01V1 “SensorTile”.

This kit includes all what is needed to remotely sense and measure motion, environmental and acoustical parameters. It is designed to support the prototyping phases of new projects and to dramatically accelerate the startup stages. It is particularly well suited for Wearable applications.

The web page contains all the documentation and links to the relevant software packages compatible with the SensorTile development kit.

The following are direct links to the most relevant information.

Documentation

A complete description of the kit and how to get started with the board is available in the User Manual:
UM2101 - Getting started with the STEVAL-STLKT01V1 SensorTile integrated development platform.
A “Quick Start Guide” presentation provides an overview of the system:

Software packages

The following software packages are available from www.st.com and provide what is needed to start developments with the SensorTile.

    • STSW-STLKT01 “Basic firmware application for STEVAL-STLKT01V1” – “The STSW-STLKT01 SensorTile firmware package built on STM32Cube software technology includes all the low level drivers to manage the on-board devices and system-level interfaces. It is designed to be an easily extended and personalized starting point for the development and customization of new dedicated applications.”

    • BLUEMICROSYSTEM2 “The BLUEMICROSYSTEM2 expansion software package for STM32Cube lets you read and display real-time environmental sensor data, digital microphone levels and acoustic source localization information (for NUCLEO-F401RE only) with a dedicated BlueMS App for Android™/iOS™. The package implements application level functions based on the BLE protocol and enables communication with Android/iOS devices. Developers can use it to prototype applications with Android/iOS services and transmit real-time sensor data with ease.”

These two software packages are based on the STM32 Cube framework for the STM32L476 micro-controller. Users interested to learn more about STM32 Cube for L4 MCU series could visit the following page: http://www.st.com/en/embedded-software/stm32cubel4.html

Integrated Development Environments (IDE)

The firmware packages contain ready-to-build projects compatible with the following IDEs:

  • IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM (EWARM)
  • RealView Microcontroller Development Kit (MDK-ARM)
  • System Workbench for STM32 (SW4STM32)

We suggest the participant of the Hackathon Make It Wearable to install on a Windows PC the latest version of IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM (EWARM). The IDE is available free of charge for a 30-day trial period.
